Oahu is the most popular tourist destination in Hawaii, and indeed, one of the most popular places to visit in the world. It is the location of Honolulu, the State Capital and home to 85% of Hawaii's population. Oahu certainly deserves its nicknake: "The Gathering Place".

Although the presence of Honolulu brings a faster pace and heavier traffic to the island, visitors to Oahu can still find peace and quiet when they use an Oahu car rental to access some of the more secluded spots around the island.

Here is a short list some of things to do and see in Oahu:

  • Polynesian Cultural Center
  • Hawaii's most popular cultural attraction has information on Polynesian culture across the Pacific. Recommended for all ages. Located North of Kaneohe.

  • USS Arizona National Memorial
  • Located in Perl Harbour, Honolulu. A memorial to those killed in "Battleship Row" during the attach on Perl Harbour in 1941. Visitors can also see the Perl Harbour Museum.

  • Turtle Bay
  • Located between Protection Point and Kuilima Point along the north coast of Oahu, Turtle Bay is a popular surfing destination due to the very large waves which are frequent, especially during the winter months.

  • Iolani Palace
  • Iolani Palace is the only Royal Palace in the United States and was the seat of Hawaiian Government until the 1960s

  • Waikiki Beach
  • Waikiki Beach is the heart of Hawaiian Tourism. The beach is home to most of the major resorts and hotels on Oahu. It is often busy, and we recommend getting there early to claim a spot to sit.
